Privacy Policy
Last updated 18 July 2026
This policy explains what information MentionShare collects, why we collect it, and what we do with it. We keep it short and plain because a privacy policy should be readable, not a wall of legal filler. If anything here is unclear, email us and we will explain it in normal words.
MentionShare ("we", "us", "our") runs AI-visibility (GEO) audits for B2B and B2C brands. When we talk about "you" we mean anyone who visits this website or gets in touch about an audit.
The short version
We only ask for the details we need to reply to you and run the work you have asked for. We do not sell your data, we do not run advertising trackers on you, and you can ask us to delete your information at any time. That is the whole idea. The rest of this page is the detail behind it.
What we collect
Information you give us
When you fill in the contact form, you give us your first name, your work email, your website address and a short description of what you sell. If you book a call or email us directly, we also keep whatever you choose to include in that message, along with anything we discuss about your brand and your market.
Information we collect automatically
Like most websites, our hosting keeps standard server logs, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request. These are used to keep the site running and secure. Our pages also load fonts from Google Fonts and Fontshare, which means those providers may receive your IP address when a page loads. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics that build a profile of you. If that ever changes, we will update this page first and ask for consent where the law requires it.
Why we use your information
We use what you give us to:
- reply to your enquiry and prepare a scope and price for your market;
- run the audit you have asked for and send you the results;
- send you service messages about work in progress, such as a report being ready;
- keep records for accounting, tax and to handle any dispute;
- keep the website secure and working.
Under data protection law, our legal grounds for this are your consent when you contact us, our need to take steps at your request and to perform a contract once you become a client, our legitimate interest in running and improving a small business, and our legal obligations, for example keeping invoices.
How the audit itself uses information
To deliver an audit we type buyer questions about your market into third-party AI engines such as ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, and we record their answers. These questions are about your category and your brand, not about you as a person. We do not paste your personal contact details into those engines as part of the work.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information and we never share it for someone else's marketing. We do use a small number of trusted providers to run the business, and they only process your data on our instructions:
- a form and email provider, to receive and answer your messages;
- a scheduling tool, if you book a call with us;
- our website host, which stores the site and its logs;
- font providers (Google Fonts and Fontshare), which serve the typefaces on the site;
- a payment or invoicing provider, if you become a paying client.
We will also share information if the law requires it, for example a valid request from an authority, or if we ever sell or restructure the business, in which case your data would move under the same protections described here.
Where your data is processed
Some of the providers above are based outside your country, including in the United States. Where information moves across borders, we rely on the safeguards those providers put in place, such as standard contractual clauses, so it stays protected to a similar standard.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry details for as long as we are in contact and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you come back. If you become a client, we keep your project records and invoices for as long as the law requires, which is usually several years for accounting. When we no longer need something, we delete it or anonymise it. You can ask us to delete your details sooner and we will, unless we are legally required to keep them.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you the information we hold about you, correct it if it is wrong, delete it, or limit how we use it. You can also object to certain uses and ask for a copy of the data you gave us in a portable format. If you ever gave consent, you can withdraw it at any time, and every email we send will have a way to unsubscribe. To use any of these rights, just email us. We will not charge you and we aim to respond within one month. If you think we have handled your data badly, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Keeping your data safe
We use reputable providers, limit who can see your information, and only keep what we need. No system is ever completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your details and we will tell you and the relevant authority if a serious breach ever affects you.
Children
This is a service for businesses. It is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your data, we will update this page and change the date at the top. For anything significant, we will make the change clear rather than bury it.
